According to a recent Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) alert, malicious emails have cost businesses (small and large) about $215,000,000 in just 14 months.
Between October 2013 and December 2014, the IC3 tracked 2,126 victims (1,198 from the US) of email scams it calls Business Email Compromises (BECs). That comes to an average of $101,129 in losses per compromised business in just over one year. There are three different versions the IC3 describes within this attack, all revolving around legitimate emails being either hacked or spoofed in order to trick an employee into transferring funds or giving up sensitive information.
The Authenti-team is busy getting ready for a stampede of excitement this March. We will be all over the country – as well as other parts of the world – sponsoring and attending events. We’re excited for the opportunity to discuss with enterprises what we can bring to their organizations, by demonstrating the growing capabilities of Authentify xFA, mobile multi-factor authentication through voice and fingerprint biometrics, digital certificates, and gesture and finger pattern swipes, secure messaging and other authentication form factors.
Where in the world will Authentify be?
