Authentify™ Appoints Peter Tapling President and Chief Executive Officer

Emerging Provider of Authentication Technology Selects Industry Veteran to Build E-Commerce Powerhouse

CHICAGO - September 15, 1999 - Authentify, Inc., an emerging provider of software and services that confirm the identity of Web users, today announced the appointment of Peter Tapling as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Tapling brings more than 18 years of technology industry experience to this leadership role on Authentify's executive management team. His proven track record for helping emerging companies achieve and manage aggressive growth will guide Authentify's growing industry momentum.

Tapling has a broad base of experience in the software industry and has held management positions in sales, business development, marketing and technical services. He has been a principal or advisor to early-stage companies since 1982.

Mr. Tapling's industry experience includes being president and CEO of IDMetrix, a subsidiary of NetDox. He has held executive product strategy, operations and marketing positions with NetDox and Dynasty Technologies. Mr. Tapling also has served in management positions at Aurigin SystemsEarly, Cloud & Company, Intersolv, SKK, Inc., and Oxford Software. Mr. Tapling holds a BS in applied computer science from Illinois State University. He is also a member of the Business and Industry Advisory Council for the Applied Computer Science Department at Illinois State University.
