The FBI, FS ISAC and IC3 this week issued a joint Fraud Alert warning of a recent wave of fraudulent wire transfers to Chinese destinations totaling millions of dollars. Industry analysts commenting on the advisory cited "out-of-band authentication technology" as an effective defense. Mr. Rolfe can explain the out-of-band process and scenarios that require legitimate account holders to confirm their identity and/or participate in a transaction through a separate communication channel like an automated phone call.
