Authentify Deploys Release 5.0 with new features including 2-Way Authentication to Thwart Phishing Sites
CHICAGO, IL - September 20, 2004 - Authentify, Inc., a proven leader in automated authentication services, today announced the deployment of its latest release to its ASP service center. Authentify release 5.0 includes many new features including a 2-way authentication technique that would permit an online user to receive a phone call from a web site and request a playback of a voice recording they had provided on a previous visit. The process offers an effective way for a user to be certain they were on a site they trusted. The feature is aimed directly at thwarting fraudsters who spoof Web sites with fakes of such high quality that they are difficult to distinguish from the originals.
“Phishing and spoofing schemes have become very elaborate,” said Peter Tapling, President and CEO of Authentify. “This feature offers a way for a user to validate they have arrived on a legitimate site, yet it does not require the exchange of any personal data, account information or passwords. It’s a deceptively elegant way for a website owner prove who they are to you, and in return you to them. Your ability to answer a telephone call being made to the phone of record for the account while online is difficult to spoof.”
Other new features in the 5.0 release include capabilities for more flexible PIN and password resets, additional data analytics for examining a phone numbers billing address and geographic relationships, as well as additional voice biometric features.
