Authentify™ Helps DST Customers Save Time and Money Issuing TrustID® Certificates

Authentify Partners with Digital Signature Trust to Provide Real-Time Authentication

CHICAGO, IL - February 21, 2002 - Authentify, Inc.™, a leading provider of Internet identity solutions, and Digital Signature Trust (DST), an affiliate of Zions Bancorporation (NASDAQ: ZION) and one of the world’s premier providers of digital identification solutions for secure online transactions, today announced that the Authentify solution has been integrated into the TrustID® digital certificate platform to, for the first time, allow trusted business transactions to happen immediately.

Now with DST’s Real-Time Identification and Authentication (I&A), businesses can issue a TrustID certificate – and its guaranteed protections – in “real time.” This means a customer coming to a Web site to conduct business can obtain a TrustID digital certificate during the same session, with no waiting, and begin transacting business immediately.

The Authentify solution enables organizations to perform real-time, two-factor user authentication during an Internet session by synchronizing an Internet session with an automated, outbound telephone call, without requiring additional hardware or client software. During this call, the user enters a one-time code from the web session via the telephone keypad to bind the telephone and web sessions. Also during the telephone session a voice recording is collected or other customized voice application may be run. The process not only acts as a strong deterrent to fraudulent Internet activity, it also allows Authentify to collect an audit trail of the entire transaction that would not otherwise be possible for an internet based transaction.

Authentify’s patent pending approach, uses the telephone combined with the Internet because it is the only way to “touch” the individual during an Internet transaction in real-time. The Authentify process, incorporating the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) as a secure, out-of-band mechanism that people already know how to use, has created overwhelmingly positive user response. In preliminary results from a study conducted by Betasphere, Inc. of California, users preferred the Authentify method to other methods nine to one.
