Authentify™ Identifies Innovative Solutions for Reducing Internet Fraud at NetSec '01
Enhancing Customer Confidence and Developing Scalable, Cost-Effective Security Infrastructures Cited as Key Issues
CHICAGO, IL - June 20, 2001 - Authentify, Inc., a leading provider of Internet identity solutions, today announced its innovative solutions for reducing Internet fraud while presenting at the NetSec '01 Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana. NetSec is the preeminent industry forum for information security managers, engineers, and network and system administrators.
During the presentation, Authentify CEO Peter Tapling addressed the faceless nature of the Internet, the limiting effect this dynamic poses to e-business growth and the need for enhanced security processes that will allow e-businesses to 'touch' consumers and reduce online anonymity. Consequently, these new processes will serve to increase consumer confidence in making online transactions, whether in a business-to-consumer or business-to-business environment, thus managing a key barrier to e-commerce and launching it into its next growth phase. Mr. Tapling also discussed recent cases of fraudulent transactions taking place in the digital world and gave examples of how companies can mitigate such risks by continually raising the bar for would-be Internet fraudsters.
Peter Tapling has earned recognition for his expertise in security principles in the digital world. He is particularly noted for his work in the area of digital certificates and PKI, due in part to his experience in developing fully functional PKI solutions. Mr. Tapling has also participated in several industry standard committees, including the ANSI committee that developed the standard C2 security clearance and an American Bar Association committee that developed the Digital Signature Guidelines document. Mr. Tapling was a member of the IETF PKIX working group and was responsible for reviewing a draft of digital signature legislation that was approved by the State of Illinois.
Now in its eleventh year, NetSec is the leading forum for information security professionals. With his profound understanding of security technology and its potential to increase users confidence in the Internet and defeat Internet fraud, Peter Tapling provided fresh insight and practical solutions to the security challenges posed by e-business and the Internet to an audience of over 1,500 network security professionals and more than 70 exhibitors of network security products.
"We knew that NetSec '01 would be an excellent platform to discuss Internet fraud because of its caliber as the premier network security conference of 2001," said Peter Tapling, CEO of Authentify. "Authentify's solutions of leveraging the Internet with the telephone network provide a scalable way to build on current strategies. It is important to increase awareness by letting people know that enhancing an organization's e-Security strategy doesn't always have to be expensive to be effective."
