Authentify™ Establishes New Headquarters in Chicago

CHICAGO - March 23, 2001 - Governor George H. Ryan today announced that Authentify, Inc. is expanding its Illinois operations and will set up new headquarters in Chicago. The project will result in the creation of 80 new jobs over the course of the next two years with the retention of a current staff of 25. Authentify, which was founded and headquartered in Des Plaines, chose Chicago over Houston, TX for its expansion.

"We are pleased that Authentify selected Illinois as its headquarters during this phase of the company's growth," said Governor Ryan. "We need to continue to support emerging companies in order to ensure Illinois' role as a leader in the high-tech sector."

The company is eligible to receive job training assistance through the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs' (DCCA) Industrial Training Program (ITP) and tax credits through the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program.

"Illinois is a leader in e-commerce and in order to enhance that leadership role we will continue working with innovative businesses in the high-tech sector to expand their presence here," said DCCA Director Pam McDonough.

Authentify is the leading provider of telephone-based identity management solutions, enabling organizations to stop Internet fraud and increase user confidence in online transactions. By leveraging the widely-deployed telephone network, Authentify will become a key component of the Internet identity management infrastructure, making the deployment of e-Security practical for businesses and easy for consumers.

"The Governor and the state of Illinois have provided resources like the EDGE program and the ITP that are great incentives for growing organizations such as ours. The programs will enable us to focus our resources on the successful launch of Authentify," said Peter Tapling, president and CEO of Authentify, Inc. "Chicago is a great place to do business, and we're very happy to continue to make our corporate home here. These types of innovative programs are vital to the success of Illinois' high-tech community."
